The main materials of these power batteries, such as square battery, cylindrical battery, soft package battery and blade battery, are aluminum alloy and red copper. The welding of these two “high anti reflective materials” has always been a problem. Even if laser welding is used, there are still pain points – weld formation, welding efficiency and welding spatter.

The major laser light source companies have introduced adjustable beam lasers through the technical upgrading of lasers. This laser has two coaxial laser beam outputs, and the energy ratio of the two can be adjusted at will. When welding aluminum alloy and red copper, it can achieve efficient and splash free welding effect, fully meeting the current needs of the new energy automobile industry, which will be the mainstream laser in the industry in the next few years.

03 Welding field of medium and thick plates
The welding of medium and thick plates is a major breakthrough direction of laser welding in the future. In the aerospace, petrochemical, shipbuilding, nuclear power equipment, rail transit and other industries, the demand for welding of medium and thick plates is huge. A few years ago, limited by the power, price and welding technology of lasers, the application and promotion of laser welding in these industries is very slow. In recent two years, the demand for industrial upgrading and manufacturing upgrading of China’s industry has become more and more urgent. Improving quality and efficiency is the common demand of all walks of life. Laser arc hybrid welding is considered to be one of the most promising technologies for medium and thick plate welding.
